Atlantic Blue Tang

Atlantic Blue Tang

Snapshot: As a juvenile, this surgeonfish shines in bright yellow, featuring two striking blue bands at the eyes. As it matures, its blue hues intensify, with horizontal markings spanning the entire body, retaining a hint of yellow in the tail.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to a whopping 39cm or so! Native to the Western Atlantic Ocean. This fish can dial up its color intensity, seemingly reflecting its mood swings.

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or reef aquarium. Larger size aquarium needed.

  • Aquarium conditions: This fish needs a tank on the larger side to accommodate its energetic nature. Enhance its environment with plenty of live rock hideaways, ensuring both shelter and exploration opportunities. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.

Feeding: For tangs, algae is king! Load up on algae-based essentials like toasted nori sheets, algae flakes, and pellets. And for a gourmet twist, treat them to frozen brine shrimp enriched with spirulina. It's an algae feast fit for royalty!

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
