Threadfin Wrasse

Threadfin Wrasse

Snapshot: Males rock a bold look with shimmering green or electric blue bodies topped off by fiery red heads or dorsal bling, while females flip the script — sporting sizzling red bodies accented with sleek green racing stripes.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to 10cm or so. Distributed throughout tje East Indian Ocean, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand, Central/West Pacific Ocean. Without his lady crew, the lonely male may start to lose his sparkle — his vibrant colors may fade.

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish only system or reef aquarium. Thick, sandy substrate.

  • Acquarium set-up: You'll need lots of space, decked out with ample live rock for hideouts and hunting. Wrasses love their comfort — give them a cozy fine sandbed to burrow into when they need a snooze or sense trouble. And don't forget a secure lid — they're jumpers! Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine water changes.

Feeding: Keep your Wrasse in top form with a gourmet diet of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, alongside high-quality marine flakes and pellets.

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
