Cuban Hogfish
Snapshot: Also known as the Spotfin Hogfish. The Cuban Hogfish rocks a flashy pink-orange head and body, fading into a lighter, sometimes almost sunshine-yellow tail.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 28cm or so. Distributed throughout the Mexican Golf, and the West Indian Ocean.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or reef aquarium with care. Larger sized aquarium needed when fully grown.
Aquarium set-up: This lively species loves to groove through open water, so give it plenty of room to strut its stuff! It also digs some chill hideouts — think shady nooks and crannies among live rocks where it can kick back in style. A natural-born sand-sifter, it digs through the substrate like a treasure hunter — kicking up clouds and stirring up the party down below. And don't forget the lid — these acrobats are known to make daring leaps from open aquariums! Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Keep your Hogfish in top form with a gourmet diet of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, alongside high-quality marine flakes and pellets.
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
