Decora Goby
Snapshot: Also known as the Purple Firefish. Its body pops with yellow and white, blending into deep purple shades that start at the head and fade into maroon-tipped fins for a bold finish.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 9cm or so. Distributed throughout the East Indian Ocean, West Indian Ocean, Australia, The Red Sea, and Indonesia.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system or reef aquarium. Thick, sandy substrate required.
Aquarium set-up: This species loves a good hideout, especially when it’s just settling into its new digs. Give it some cozy spots to chill and feel secure! And don't forget the lid — these acrobats are known to make daring leaps from open aquariums! Wrasses love their comfort — give them a cozy fine sandbed to burrow into when they need a snooze or sense trouble.Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Keep your royal goby highness happy with a diverse diet of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, flake food, marine-based algae and shrimp pellets.
