Interruptus Angelfish

Interruptus Angelfish

Snapshot: Also known as the Japanese Angelfish. If there’s a rockstar of the dwarf angelfish world, the Interruptus Angelfish is it. With its dazzling mix of electric blue and fiery orange, this rare beauty turns heads wherever it swims. As they mature, their colours evolve, with blue becoming more dominant while the orange tones soften.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to 15cm or so. Generally distributed throughout the sub-tropical waters of Japan.

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or fish-only system. Dim lighting required to help your Interruptus acclimate.

  • Aquarium set-up: Plenty of live rock is a must, not only does it provide natural grazing opportunities, but it also creates the nooks and crannies this species loves to explore. Hailing from deeper waters, the Interruptus can be a little shy under intense reef lighting. An aquascape packed with caves, overhangs, and shaded hideaways will help it feel secure, particularly during its first few weeks in a new home. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.

Feeding: Offer a mix of mysis shrimp, marine algae, and spirulina-based foods to keep those colours vibrant and your Interruptus in top condition.

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
