Japanese Big Eye

Japanese Big Eye

Snapshot: Also known as the Whiteband Bigeye, this majesty is impossible to miss. With its bold, reddish-orange eye-catching colors and those oversized, expressive eyes, it’s basically the wide-eyed superstar of the reef, always looking like it just spotted something juicy.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to 20-25cm or so. Distributed in the Indo-Pacific region.

Bare bones must know: Best suited to a live-rock fish-only system.

  • Aquarium set-up:  This one’s all about that moody reef life.  Set it up with plenty of hidey-holes, caves, and shady overhangs so it can duck, dive, and disappear like a pro. Keep the lighting low and vibey too. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.

Feeding: This one’s got a serious carnivore playlist....think crunchy crustaceans, squishy worms, echinoderm larvae, and bite-sized fishy snacks on repeat.

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
