Pencil Wrasse
Snapshot: These wrasses are artistry in motion! They showcase abstract, art-like patterns with lines, dashes, blotches, and vibrant color blocks. Their colours span from cool blues and greens to warm oranges and yellows.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 12cm or so. Native to the tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean, including around Hawaii.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system or reef aquarium with care. Mature and well established aquarium. Thick, sandy substrate. Expert aquarists only.
Aquarium set-up: This beauty demands a well established tank that is spacious and decked out with ample live rock for hideouts and hunting. Wrasses love their comfort — give them a cozy fine and deep sandbed to burrow into when they need a snooze or sense trouble. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Keep your Wrasse in top form with a gourmet diet of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, alongside high-quality marine flakes and pellets.
