Quoyi Parrotfish (EATING PELLETS )

Quoyi Parrotfish (EATING PELLETS )

Snapshot: Also known as the Green Parrotfish. Males are a full-on color show, flashing blue-green bodies edged with electric pink scales. This species is nothing short of a jaw-dropping splash of color.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to a 40cm or so. Distributed throughout the East Indian Ocean, West Indian Ocean, Australia, and Indonesia. With a massive appetite to match its size, it needs an aquarium built to handle a serious bioload.

Bare bones must know: Best suited to a live-rock fish-only system. Larger size aquarium needed (to accommodate its growth).

  • Aquarium set-up: Size matters. You'll need a colossal tank, giving them the freedom to stretch their fins and glide through the water with ease. Fill that expansive space with live rock to create an underwater oasis fit for royalty. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.

Feeding: They're omnivores and crave a diverse diet. Offer chopped fish or shrimp, frozen mysis or brine shrimp, plus algae or algae sheets. Parrotfish are algae-munching machines, grazing impressive amounts of green hair and filamentous algae straight off the rocks.

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
