Racoon Butterflyfish

Snapshot: This butterflyfish rocks a yellow-orange body with darker upper tones, a bold black “bandit mask,” crisp white stripe, and black-and-yellow accents reaching the dorsal fin.

Other tidbits: Can grow up to 20cm or so. Distributed throughout the East Indian Ocean, West Indian Ocean, Australia, Indonesia, East Pacific, Central/West Pacific.

Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system. Stable, top-notch water quality.

  • Aquarium set-up: They thrive on sandy substrates, relishing in the refuge of live rock caves and crevices for both shelter and scavenging. A constant flow of well-oxygenated water is vital for their thriving health. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.

Feeding: Keep the butterflyfish menu diverse by serving up frozen or live treats like brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and chopped seafood. Don't forget top-notch marine flakes or pellets for balanced nutrition.

AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
