Red Coris Wrasse
Snapshot: Also known as the Clown Wrasse, Red Labrid, or Yellowtail Coris Wrasse. As juveniles, they are bright orange with tiger-like stripes. Adults transform into a dazzling mix of speckled blue bodies, rainbow fins, and an orange face with green stripes. Males have a light green streak above the anal fin for extra flair.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to a whopping 38cm or so! Distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific, Hawaiian regions and to the Red Sea.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish-only system, or fish-only system. Thick, sandy substrate needed.
Aquarium set-up: This top-tier hunter doesn’t mess around—it’ll flip every rock, dig through every nook, and stop at nothing to snag its next meal. So lock those rocks down tight—this fish plays rough, and you don’t want a landslide in your tank! Wrasses love their comfort — give this one a deep cozy fine sandbed to burrow into when they need a snooze or sense trouble. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Keep your Wrasse in top form with a gourmet diet of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, alongside high-quality marine flakes and pellets.
AQT note: All our fish feast on a diet of seaweed, marine pellets, flakes and frozen treats under our care. Keep the feast going in your tank!
