Sea Horse

Snapshot: This is one seriously charming fish, with a horse-like head, an upright swimming style and a curly tail that doubles as a handy anchor. You’ll often find it hitched to a favourite perch, watching the world go by before snapping up a passing snack.
 
Other tidbits: Size varies considerably depending on the species. Found in coastal habitats across tropical and temperate waters, seahorses are full of surprises, and it’s the males that carry the developing young and give birth. Talk about a hands-on dad!
 
Bare bones must know: Best kept in a dedicated seahorse aquarium with plenty of hitching posts, good water quality and sheltered spots away from strong currents.
