Skunk Tilefish
Snapshot: They’ve got a sleek, elongated white body with a bold red / orange line tracing their side like a neon glow. Their fins, body, and eyes rock a cool blue tint, giving this species a seriously eye-catching vibe!
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 13cm or so. Distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Best purchased in pairs.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish only system, or reef aquarium. Deep sandy substrate needed.
Aquarium set-up: This fish needs a spacious tank with lots of room to zoom around, plus a deep sandy substrate for some serious burrowing action. And don't forget the lid — these acrobats are known to make daring leaps from open aquariums! Tilefish love their comfort — give them a cozy but deep sandbed to burrow into when they need a snooze or sense trouble. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: Feed your tilefish a feast of meaty delights like chopped marine fish, shrimp, and frozen mysis or brine shrimp. To keep it fueled and fabulous, aim for at least two meals a day.
