Yellow Tilefish
Snapshot: This golden stunner lives up to its name, glowing in a bold, eye-catching yellow that makes it impossible to miss and easy to admire.
Other tidbits: Can grow up to 13cm or so. Distributed throughout the East Indian Ocean, Australia, Indonesia, Central/West Pacific.
Bare bones must know: Live-rock fish only system, or reef aquarium with care. Top notch water quality needed. Deep sandy substrate needed.
Aquarium set-up: This stunner loves wide open swim zones, plenty of hideouts, and a chill, low-light vibe. It also loves a soft sandy floor — perfect for digging in and making itself at home! And don't forget the lid — these acrobats are known to make daring leaps from open aquariums! Give them a cozy fine sandbed to burrow into when they need a snooze or sense trouble. Maintain an aquatic utopia by nailing the basics: rock-solid water quality with top-notch filtration and routine partial water changes.
Feeding: This stunner loves to feast on a mix of marine fish, crustacean flesh, and Mysis shrimp — served up two or three times a day to keep it fueled and fabulous!
